Menopause Brain Fog? Why You Need Mental Space

When was the last time you had actual space—mental, physical, emotional—just to be?

If you’re anything like the women I work with, you’re spinning all the plates: work, family, the endless life admin… and all while battling fatigue, brain fog, anxiety or worse, thinking it’s just you not coping.

But here’s the truth: it’s not your fault. And no, you don’t need a new supplement or a celebrity-endorsed diet to fix it.

The real challenge of menopause isn’t just the symptoms, it’s how little mental bandwidth you actually have to deal with them

In this episode of my podcast, I talk about why so many women feel like they’re barely keeping up and how the answer might be simpler than you think. Not easy, but simple.

What If You’re Overlooking the Things That Actually Work?

We’re bombarded with advice, some of it helpful, much of it hype. And it’s easy to dismiss the basics: rest, breath, boundaries, quiet.

Why? Because they don’t seem revolutionary. You’ve heard them all before, right?

Don’t kid yourself that putting on a podcast is space. I want you to get out there with your thoughts, with your breath.

But those small things, the ones that feel too simple to matter? Those are the things that change everything. The irony is, they’re often the hardest to stick to because you’re not seeing the instant payoff.

So instead, you find yourself chasing the next life-changing supplement, diet, or 14-step morning routine shared by someone who has no clue what it’s like to live your life.

Why Your Brain Feels Broken and What To Do About It

As oestrogen and progesterone decline, so does your brain’s resilience to stress. Your nervous system is more sensitive. Your sleep suffers. Your mood shifts. And your mental focus? That vanishes quicker than you can say “where did I put my phone?”

Your menopausal brain is being rewired and just requires so much more from you.

And yet, you keep pushing. You ignore the signs. You stay plugged in, switched on, and overcommitted—because slowing down feels indulgent. Or impossible. Or pointless.

Space Isn’t a Luxury—It’s the Medicine

The idea of space might sound abstract, but I’m talking about real things you can implement today:

  • Start your day without your phone
  • Get outside into morning light
  • Move your body in short walking “snacks”
  • Soften your belly and drop your shoulders
  • Protect your evenings from screens
  • Set boundaries around your time and attention

These aren’t just wellness trends. They are non-negotiables, tools to support your nervous system, regulate your hormones and clear the mental fog.

This Is What I Do

After nearly 7 years of supporting women through menopause, here’s what I know: the real magic happens when you stop chasing extremes and start paying attention to the gaps in your day.

My strength is being able to laser in on those small, seemingly unimportant things that are actually keeping you stuck. And I know they make a difference—because I’ve seen the results over and over again.

This isn’t about more willpower or another plan you’ll abandon next week. This is about making life easier. You don’t need to be more disciplined, you need to build habits that actually fit your life. Lots of experts tell you what you should be doing but don’t work on the how.
