Ever wondered what it’s really like to come along to one of my events?
Let me hand you over to someone who knows a thing or two about navigating midlife: the brilliant Claire from The Menopausal Hairdresser.
As someone who’s an expert in all things menopause hair (yes, thinning and shedding can be tackled with the right support!), Claire’s seen it all. But breathwork, sauna and cold plunge? That was a first.
And I’m so glad it was with me.
Want to see what it’s like?
Here’s a behind the scenes reel of the session—complete with candles, sauna steam and a few nervous giggles before the cold plunge!
👉 Watch it on Instagram (you’ll want to come to the next one…)
When you run events solo, it’s hard to capture what really happens because I’m usually deep in hosting mode, making sure you’re comfortable, relaxed and getting the most from the experience. So when Claire came along to my recent evening at Sauna in the Wild and then wrote a full blog about it, I was over the moon!

Breathwork at Sauna in the Wild – The Menopausal Hairdresser
The setting? Magical.
The weather? Glorious.
The responses after? From ‘I’ve slept better than I have in weeks’ to ‘I didn’t think I could feel this calm.’
(I’ve had beach sessions cancelled due to thunderstorms before, so having a warm, calm evening felt like a gift from the menopause gods!)
Here’s a snippet of what Claire shared:
“I didn’t realise how much I needed it until afterwards. My whole body felt different, in the best way.”
That’s the power of a functional reset. One that works with your body, not against it.
What we actually did
This isn’t a ‘woo woo’ wellness retreat. There’s no pressure to perform, no extremes. It’s real world, evidence backed support for women who do a lot—but need a bit of help to switch off.

Here’s a little more about the tools we used:
Why Breathwork Works for Menopause
This is the foundation of every session I run. But don’t expect anything dramatic or over the top. This is the kind of breathwork that grounds you. Functional, science backed and deceptively simple.
We’re slowing things down, shifting your nervous system out of stress mode and helping you feel more like you. Better sleep, calmer days, steadier energy—this is where it begins.

Sauna + Cold Plunge: Natural Tools for Midlife Reset
The heat isn’t just relaxing (though yes, it is lush). It’s also doing some heavy lifting in the background:
- Boosts circulation
Heat exposure can help improve blood flow, which supports oxygen and nutrient delivery throughout the body, great for overall energy and recovery. - Relieves joint and muscle tension
Heat helps ease tight muscles and achy joints, common issues during midlife - Promotes better sleep
The post sauna drop in body temperature helps trigger melatonin production, supporting deeper, more restful sleep, something many menopausal women struggle with - Supports hot flush regulation
Regular sauna use may help your body adapt better to temperature changes, which can ease the intensity or frequency of hot flushes for some women.
Cold Plunge
The bit everyone talks about! It might feel a bit much at first, but the after effects speak for themselves:
- Reduces inflammation
Cold exposure can help ease achy joints, soothe muscle soreness and support recovery - Sharpens focus and clears brain fog
The cold shock boosts alertness, floods you with feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine - Supports mood and emotional balance
Regular cold plunges have been linked to improved mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression
Not to mention, the camaraderie of plunging together. It’s definitely a talking point!

We finished off the evening together sat around the fire pit, enjoying hot drinks , laughter and conversation. And what started as a simple evening ended up feeling like a full body exhale.
More to come…
If you’re local to Essex, I will be running another event at Sauna in the Wild—so if it caught your interest, keep an eye on my events page or better yet:
Join the newsletter and get first chance on new dates (before they hit socials).
You don’t need to do it all. You just need a way to start feeling better.
This is one of those ways.
